Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick Delivers $850,000 in Funding for Broward Partnership for the Homeless’s Aspire 1650 Affordable Housing Initiative

TAMARAC, FL – Today, Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick joined Broward Partnership for the Homeless to announce $850,000 in critical Community Project Funding that the organization has received for the Aspire 1650 affordable housing initiative.
"The housing crisis in Broward County has made it one of the least affordable places to live in the country. It pains me deeply to know that over 2,000 Broward County residents are experiencing homelessness. No one in our nation should be without a roof over their head," saidCongresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. "With this funding, we are taking a significant step towards addressing homelessness and the affordable housing crisis in Broward County. I am proud to have secured this investment, which will provide a stable environment where our community’s most vulnerable can rebuild their lives, access essential services, and join a supportive community. This funding reflects my unwavering commitment to protecting, building, and delivering for Florida’s 20th Congressional District."
“We are immensely grateful to Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick for her unwavering support and dedication to our mission,” said Tom Campbell, CEO of Broward Partnership. “Today's check presentation is crucial for Aspire 1650, our second affordable housing development. This project exemplifies our vision of safe and stable housing for all and highlights the importance of public-private partnerships.”
The funding will support the development of Aspire 1650, a crucial project providing both supportive services and affordable housing to vulnerable populations in Broward County. Aspire 1650 will feature approximately 80 apartment units, creating an income-eligible housing community with abundant and accessible common spaces, amenities, resources, and services. This vibrant community will be located next to the existing North Homeless Assistance Center in Pompano Beach. A portion of Aspire 1650’s apartments will be dedicated to permanent supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, including units for those with special needs. The remaining apartments will offer affordable housing for income-eligible individuals and families who do not require supportive services.
The funding for Broward Partnership for the Homeless was included in Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick’s requests for Community Project Funding (CPF) in Fiscal Year (FY) 2024. The requests delivered over $14.4 million in critical resources for Florida’s 20th Congressional District to address some of the district’s most pressing needs.
