Digital/Press District Internship:
The Office of Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Digital/Press Intern to join our fast-paced communications team in the District Office for the Spring 2026 term.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Answering phones and assisting with constituent services
- Conducting research and drafting correspondence
- Supporting community outreach efforts
- Assisting with special projects as assigned by the District Communications Assistant, Communications Director, and District Director
- Providing support with digital content creation and press-related tasks
Qualified candidates should demonstrate strong writing and editing skills, digital proficiency, and the ability to manage time-sensitive assignments. Familiarity with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Photoshop) is preferred. Prior experience in a press or digital media role (including internships) is a plus, but not required. The intern will work closely with both the District Director and Communications Assistant(s), gaining valuable insight into the work of a Congressional District Office.
Internship Details:
- Term: January – May 2026
- Commitment: Full-time (minimum of 30 hours per week)

District Outreach Intern:
The Office of Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is seeking a District Outreach Intern to support outreach and engagement efforts across Florida’s 20th Congressional District. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public service, constituent engagement, and community-based policy work.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the planning and execution of district events, including town halls, mobile office hours, and community celebrations
- Assisting with relationship-building efforts with local organizations, businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders
- Drafting outreach materials, correspondence, and event briefings
- Conducting research on local issues and organizations
- Helping manage constituent inquiries and office databases
- Attending community meetings or events on behalf of the office, as needed
Interns will report directly to the District Director and work closely with the District Outreach Coordinator and other staff. This role is ideal for individuals interested in public policy, communications, or community relations.
Internship Details:
- Term: January 2026 – May 2026
- Time Commitment: Full-time preferred; minimum of 30 hours per week required

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced communications team and gain firsthand experience in digital media, press strategy, and the legislative process through a unique communications lens.
Responsibilities:
- Draft social media content, e-newsletters, website copy, and targeted mailings
- Assist with graphic design and video editing in line with the Congresswoman’s brand
- Draft speeches and talking points on legislative topics
- Clip and compile press and video content
- Maintain press lists and track media outreach
- Compile daily press clips and social media analytics
- Support general office tasks including answering phones, conducting research, and drafting constituent correspondence
Qualifications:
- Strong writing, editing, and digital communication skills

Legislative D.C. Internship:
The Office of Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (FL-20) is seeking motivated, detail-oriented, and energetic college students and recent graduates for a full-time legislative internship in Washington, D.C. from January to May 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the legislative process and the inner workings of Capitol Hill.
Ideal candidates are team players with strong written and oral communication skills, a demonstrated interest in government and public service, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and a willingness to assist wherever needed are essential.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting constituent correspondence
- Researching legislative issues and preparing policy memos
- Attending briefings, hearings, and markups, and drafting related summaries
- Responding to constituent mail and managing office phone lines
Details:
- Duration: January 2026 – May 2026
- Hours: Full-time, minimum 30 hours per week; generally Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with flexible scheduling to accommodate coursework
