Project Name: Tamarac Water Treatment Plant Project

Project Description:

The City of Tamarac is located in Broward County, Florida, an area that experiences severe weather, including hurricanes. The City’s Water Treatment Administration Building, constructed in 1969, is more than 50 years old, and according to an Engineering Investigation and Assessment, conducted by C3TS Architects – Engineers, the structure is outdated and no longer meets current code requirements; the facility lacks structural integrity to withstand hurricane force winds, and if compromised poses a risk to City staff and the City’s potable water supply.   The purpose of this project is to address those concerns, by constructing a new, elevated, and hurricane-resilient water treatment facility that meets FEMA and ASCE standards for essential infrastructure. This critical upgrade will enhance regional resilience, protect public health, and ensure the continuity of vital drinking water services for homes, businesses, hospitals, and emergency responders in the area.

 

Project Name: Senior Home Rehabilitation Program

Requested Amount: $1,000,000

Project Description:

The City of Belle Glade is proud to support its senior residents through the Senior Home Rehabilitation Program, a vital City initiative that provides one-time grants of up to $25,000 to eligible homeowners aged 65 and older. Designed to help seniors live safely and independently in their homes, the program focuses on critical upgrades that improve health, safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency. Belle Glade faces the ongoing challenge of aging infrastructure and a housing stock built decades ago. Many homes occupied by seniors are now at risk of becoming uninhabitable due to deterioration and a lack of resources for proper maintenance. This reality poses serious safety and security concerns for some of the city’s most vulnerable residents. Typical repairs include fixing leaking roofs, replacing unsafe flooring, correcting faulty electrical systems, and addressing accessibility issues—such as the installation of grab bars, ramps, and other mobility enhancements. Administered by a newly established City Committee and implemented in partnership with licensed local contractors and trusted community-based service providers, the program not only enhances the quality of life for Belle Glade’s seniors but also contributes to the city’s economic vitality. 

 

Project Name: City of Sunrise Regional Park Safety and Security Enhancements

Requested Amount: $2,750,000.00

Project Name: Canal 3A Stormwater Conveyance and Water Quality Improvement Project

The Canal 3A Bank Improvement Project aims to resolve ongoing erosion and bank instability. Through precise slope correction and stabilization, the project will safeguard the canal's infrastructure and enhance city's stormwater management systems. The project helps the city meet its NPDES MS4 permit requirements.

 

Project Name: Blanche Ely Estates Project

Project Description:

The funding would be provide single family homes for low to moderate income residents. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it serves as a catalyst for meaningful transformation in the Liberty Park neighborhood by eliminating a long vacant site that once symbolized disinvestment, poverty, and community decline.

 

Project Name: NW 5th Street Bridge Critical Safety Repairs

Requested Amount: $724,000

Intended Recipient: City of Belle Glade

Project Description:

The City of Belle Glade respectfully requests $724,000 in FY27 Community Project Funding (CPF) to support critical repairs to the NW 5th Street Bridge. The NW 5th Street Bridge is a critical local transportation link that carries daily vehicle, pedestrian, and school traffic across the Hillsboro L-14 Canal, connecting residential neighborhoods to major roadways, community services, and nearby schools. CPF funding will support bid preparation, engineering, construction, and safety repairs for the Bridge to bring the structure into compliance with Florida Department of Transportation safety standards. Work includes final design, construction engineering inspection, and structural repairs to address documented deficiencies identified through FDOT inspections and structural analysis. The project is shovel-ready with inspections completed and engineering procurement able to begin immediately upon award.

 

Project Name: Fort Lauderdale Sistrunk Streetscape Lighting Improvement Project

Requested Amount: $550,000

Intended Recipient: City of Fort Lauderdale

Project Description:

The lighting along Sistrunk Boulevard – NW 6th Street, between the Florida East Coast railway – NW 1st Ave and NW 24th Avenue is inadequate and does not sufficiently illuminate the roadway or sidewalks, creating unsafe conditions for drivers and pedestrians. This streetscape improvement project will upgrade and modernize the corridor’s lighting system reducing the risk of crashes, deter crime and unsafe activity, and create a safer and more comfortable environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.


Project Name: Riviera Beach Water Plant PFAS Compliance & Resiliency Infrastructure

Requested Amount: $8,000,000

Intended Recipient: City of Riviera Beach

Project Description:

The City of Riviera Beach is constructing a new Water Treatment Plant to replace its aging and obsolete facility and ensure compliance with updated state and federal drinking water standards, including emerging PFAS regulations. The project will modernize the City’s treatment capabilities while strengthening system resilience in a coastal, storm-prone region. The requested $8,000,000 in Community Project Funding will support advanced treatment systems and operational infrastructure necessary for PFAS compliance and uninterrupted water service. Eligible activities include membrane softening and desalination components, treatment automation and water quality monitoring systems, hardened electrical infrastructure, backup power generation, flood protection measures, and related system reliability improvements. These investments will ensure the facility meets evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining continuous operations during extreme weather events, power disruptions, or other emergencies. The project is shovel-ready and under construction. Riviera Beach’s water system serves residents, surrounding municipalities, the local Veterans Administration, and major regional employers, making reliable system performance essential to public health and economic stability across northern Palm Beach County. This funding will leverage substantial local, state, and federal financing, including State appropriations, State Revolving Fund, WIFIA support, and local debt financing, and will help reduce long-term ratepayer burden while protecting prior public investment.

 

Project Name: City of Deerfield Beach Body-Worn Camera Program

The City of Deerfield Beach is establishing a new municipal police department with 130 officers to serve its residents, visitors, and business community. A central component of this department is the body-worn camera (BWC) program, which will equip every officer with state-of-the-art cameras, secure data storage, and integrated evidence management technology. The program ensures transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes in public safety from day one, fostering community trust and protecting both officers and the public they serve.

Project Description:

The City of North Lauderdale is seeking funding to support a critical redevelopment initiative aimed at revitalizing key commercial and residential areas. This project will enhance infrastructure, improve public spaces, and stimulate economic growth through strategic improvements, including roadway enhancements, upgraded utilities, streetscaping, and the development of mixed-use spaces. The investment will attract businesses, increase property values, and improve the quality of life for residents. The City has spent approximately $3 million to date to acquire vacant property in our city to help begin the redevelopment process. This funding will support planning and design efforts necessary to modernize aging infrastructure and create a more vibrant, sustainable community. This redevelopment effort aligns with the city’s long-term vision for economic development, community engagement, and urban renewal.

 

Project Name: City of Deerfield Beach Southeast 15th Avenue Bridge Design/Construction

Project Description:

Constructed in 1955, the SE 15th Avenue Bridge over the Tern Waterway has surpassed its intended service life and no longer meets the transportation and safety demands of a growing Deerfield Beach community. Despite repeated rehabilitation efforts, the structure has remained in fair condition since 2017 and now requires inspection every 12 months due to its Bridge Posting Code 4 designation. The bridge’s narrow deck forces vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists to share limited space, creating daily safety risks for residents and commuters. Existing weight restrictions further constrain the movement of school buses, commercial deliveries, and service vehicles, disrupting reliable access for businesses and essential community functions. Compounding these challenges, the bridge sits at a low elevation relative to the surrounding floodplain, leaving this critical corridor vulnerable to flooding during severe weather and high tide events. Continued structural deterioration threatens not only mobility but also the safety and economic stability of the surrounding area. The proposed project will replace the aging structure with a modern, resilient bridge elevated above the floodplain to improve storm resilience, navigability, and long-term climate adaptability. The new design will incorporate wider travel lanes that meet current safety standards and dedicated five-foot pedestrian and bicycle pathways on both sides, creating a safe multimodal corridor for residents, commuters, and visitors. By integrating flood mitigation, storm surge resistance, and durable infrastructure design, this project provides a forward-looking solution that restores reliability, strengthens public safety, and ensures this vital transportation link can serve the community for generations to come.

 

Project Name: Palm Beach County RESTORE Reentry Program

Palm Beach County’s RESTORE Reentry Program provides evidence-based services to individuals returning from incarceration, including case management, employment assistance, and stabilization supports to reduce recidivism and improve public safety. To address the City of Lauderdale Lakes critical need for a designated emergency hurricane center, we propose the construction of a new Community Center that will serve a dual purpose. This facility will function as a hub for community programs, activities, and engagement during normal operations, while also being strategically designed and equipped to serve as an emergency command center and hurricane distribution site during natural disasters. This approach will help ensure that residents have reliable access to essential services, resources, and shelter when they need it most.

 

Project Name: Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Stormwater Project Phase III “MLK Mile“

Requested Amount: $2,000,000

Project Description:

The Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Avenue to SW 3rd Avenue corridor has been identified as a widespread flood-prone area by Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. in a 2021 Stormwater Capital Improvement Plan that was produced as a result of RFQ# 2018-19/02. The project corridor spans north to south within City limits, south of East Hillsboro Boulevard, east of I-95, north of SW 10th Street, and west of the South Dixie Highway. The proposed project will mitigate flooding in the northern and southern sections of the corridor to achieve a level of service standard to withstand a 10-year, 24-hour storm in the area. The scope of work consists of construction to up-size existing drainage infrastructure and construct new drainage infrastructure, including ditch bottom inlets, manholes, piping, and ex-filtration, as well as constructing improvements to the existing pond. In addition to these critical drainage improvements the city plans on branding this project the “MLK Mile”. The City will utilize funding for additional amenities. These amenities will include improved landscaping, enhanced lighting, new concrete pavers, streetscape improvements. It will also include roadway improvements such as the installation of bicycle lanes, new sidewalks, and pedestrian crosswalks to provide better access to the area. The City will also commission local artists to paint murals and install other roadway art to capture the true essence of the “MLK Mile” to enhance community events such as the MLK Day parade. These improvements will be a catalyst for future economic revitalization. The project will also promote local pride and collaboration among the business community and the city’s residents.

 

Project Name: Stormwater Conveyance and Water Quality Improvement Project

Project Description:

The City of Lauderdale Lakes rehabilitation of the Canal Bank Project would help repair, restore, and protect the canal network. The network currently includes a mix of seawall systems in different stages of disrepair, potentially leading to land-based discharges, pollutants, land erosion, and other elements that negatively impact over 15,000 properties.
