Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick Delivers $1,000,000 in Funding to Community Partners of South Florida for the Tamarind 13th Block Redevelopment Project

TAMARAC, FL – Today, Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick joined Community Partners of South Florida to announce $1,000,000 in critical Community Project Funding that the organization has received for the Tamarind 13th Block Redevelopment Project.

This crucial funding will reduce crime, create new economic opportunities, improve community health, and foster a stronger sense of neighborhood pride. “With this $1 million, we will be able to complete the buildout of affordable housing units, right here in the heart of West Palm Beach, to support our growing workforce and families by providing a dignified housing option, in a community of choice,” said Kelly Powell, CEO of Community Partners of South Florida. “To be able to purchase a home is the American Dream. We want to bring that back.”
The funding will support the building and renovation of affordable multi-unit housing off Tamarind Avenue in the Coleman Park neighborhood of West Palm Beach. This crucial project, which begins in early 2025, will provide both supportive services and affordable housing for individuals in service fields such as education, healthcare, social work, and public service.
The funding for the Tamarind 13th Block Redevelopment Project was included in Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick’s requests for Community Project Funding (CPF) in Fiscal Year (FY) 2024. The requests delivered over $14.4 million in critical resources for Florida’s 20th Congressional District to address some of the district’s most pressing needs.
