What Is Medicaid?

  • Medicaid is a government health insurance program in the United States that provides healthcare coverage to over 70 million low-income individuals and their families

  • It is jointly funded by federal government and state governments, but it is managed by each state, meaning the program's specific rules and benefits can vary by location (Source: www.Medicaid.gov

  • It could also mean a clinic or hospital may decide to close down certain operations because they cannot afford to provide them to Medicaid patients

  • Stripping Medicaid will also directly impact the health care workforce and state economies
