WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) issued the following statement on her vote to prevent a government shutdown.  

“Today, I voted to keep the government open, ensuring critical services remain available to our families, veterans, and seniors in South Florida. This bill provides disaster relief to our communities in the aftermath of recent Hurricanes such as Helene and Milton and protects the over 9,000 hardworking federal employees in my district.  

After a week of chaos led by ‘President’ Musk, Speaker Johnson, and Donald Trump, House Democrats again stepped up to deliver for America’s families.    

I look forward to swift passage in the Senate and for this legislation to be signed into law.”
