WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) issued the following statement on the SCOTUS ruling on President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan.

“The U.S. Supreme Court has delivered a crushing blow to 40 million student loan borrowers saddled with debt. President Biden’s relief plan is a lifeline for working families, many of whom are still struggling to recover from an unprecedented pandemic. It is deeply disconcerting that a right-wing majority of the Supreme Court has put the economic well-being of millions of Americans in limbo. In the wake of the ruling, I urge President Biden and Secretary Cardona to explore all potential vehicles for providing much-needed financial relief.”
