Project Name: Tamarac Water Treatment Plant Project

Requested Amount: $4,000,000

Project Description:

The City’s Water Treatment Administration Building, constructed in 1969, is more than 50 years old, and the structure is outdated and no longer meets current code requirements; the facility lacks structural integrity to withstand hurricane force winds, and if compromised poses a risk to City staff and the City’s potable water supply. The purpose of this project is to address those concerns, by constructing a new, elevated, and hurricane-resilient water treatment facility that meets FEMA and ASCE standards for essential infrastructure. This critical upgrade will enhance regional resilience, protect public health, and ensure the continuity of vital drinking water services for homes, businesses, hospitals, and emergency responders in the area.

 

Project Name: Construction of Water Treatment Facilities, Floridian Aquifer Production Well Package

Requested Amount: $4,000,000

Project Description:

Construction of three (3) new Floridan production wells to supply the water treatment plant. One of the Floridan wells will also be utilized as a test production well to confirm capacity and water quality. This new source of water, allocated by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), to supply water to the City for long-term growth without straining the current surficial aquifer system. These Floridan Aquifer production wells will be tied into the new water treatment plant and be treated with reverse osmosis membranes. The use of this new water supply with the production wells provide long-term sustainability of the City’s water supply.

 

Project Name: Town Of Lake Park Final Septic To Sewer Conversion Project

Requested Amount: $4,000,000

Project Description:

 The purpose of this project is to convert properties in the Town of Lake Park from septic systems to sewer systems, thereby reducing the contaminants released into the Intracoastal Waterway/Lake Worth Lagoon. Lake Park has been able to accomplish this for much of the town; this project will serve to convert the remaining 42 properties still on private septic systems to a public sewer waste collection system. This is of particular importance due to Lake Park's proximity to the Intracoastal Waterway/Lake Worth Lagoon, which forms the eastern border of the municipality.

 

Project Name: Storm Water Culvert Replacements

Requested Amount: $750,000

Intended Recipient: City of North Lauderdale

Project Description:

The city has a Stormwater Master Plan that was completed in 2019 by an independent consultant. Based on the plan’s recommendations, culvert pipes will be up-sized to 72-inch concrete pipes to eliminate the bottlenecks in the existing canal network due to capacity constraints. The increase in culvert capacity inside the canal network will match the capacity of the major outfalls in order to mitigate flooding events in the City, enhancing quality of life and protecting properties from flooding and storm induced hazards.

 

Project Name: City of South Bay Emergency Shelter and Operations Center

Requested Amount: $1,500,000

Project Description:

In its critical functions, the facility will provide protection for life at the point of impact in a natural disaster or critical hours in the heat of an emergency event. The Shelter will house a minimum of 200 persons, either typically abled or physically disabled persons with sleeping accommodations. Unfortunately, the current shelter is no longer able to meet the standards required for the increasingly powerful storm events that face our communities. Once the critical hours pass, the facility will also serve as the staging point for recovery efforts. City first responders, including, police, fire, EMT, and social services teams will use the facility to support residents, employees and those from our neighboring communities. The funding would be used to enable the construction of the Emergency Shelter Center which will provide a safe environment for families with housing complexities or fragile homes during a natural catastrophe, it will also serve residents from the neighboring Hendry County. This project would also allow for families with unique medical needs, who might have been previously isolated, to be safely housed close to their families.

 

Project Name: Project RESET (Reintegration, Engagement and Skills Enhancement in the Trades)

Requested Amount: $1,040,000

Project Description:

Project RESET (Reintegration, Engagement and Skills Enhancement in the Trades) is designed to instill personal responsibility for individuals at risk of justice system involvement or recidivism to reset their lives through a new, innovative, comprehensive, evidence-informed, community corrections program that includes screening assessments, individualized case planning, hands-on learning, skills enhancement, and vocational training in the trades—promoting crime prevention, successful reentry, and self-sufficiency, while addressing the nation’s urgent need for a stronger, more resilient skilled workforce. Funds will be used for necessary supplies and materials to start up a new trades training program, a core component strategy for engaging participants in lifechanging, positive alternatives to crime.

 

Project Name: City of Sunrise Regional Park Safety and Security Enhancements

Requested Amount: $3,000,000

Intended Recipient: City of Sunrise/Sunrise Police Department

Project Description:

This project includes the installation of security systems at City Parks and community facilities. Safety and Security enhancements will include security camera systems (including high-definition cameras and NVR), emergency call stations and enhanced security lighting to assist the Sunrise Police Department with deterring crimes and solving crimes when necessary.


Project Name: Lauderhill Infill Housing Project

Requested Amount: $3,500,000

This project transforms vacant, underutilized lots into quality housing, directly addressing affordability and reducing neighborhood blight. It promotes homeownership, strengthens the local tax base, and attracts private investment—delivering long-term economic and community benefits.

Project Description:

Through the development of 36 single-family homes in Phase 1—protected by a Community Land Trust to ensure permanent affordability—the project not only provides desperately needed housing for low- to moderate-income families, but also strengthens the foundation for long-term neighborhood revitalization. 

 

Project Name: Stormwater Conveyance and Water Quality Improvement Project

Requested Amount: $2,000,000

Intended Recipient: City of Lauderdale Lakes

Project Description:

There is an immediate need to repair/restore canal bank and erosion control to protect the canal from pollutants that are harmful to water quality and flood control throughout the canal network. The project will include canal bank repair, stabilization, and erosion control. It will enhance stormwater conveyance and water quality in the canal and will also strengthen flood prevention measures as is required to safeguard homes, businesses, and public infrastructures.

 

Project Name: Seaboard Multi-Modal Train Station Improvement Project

Requested Amount: $3,000,000

Intended Recipient: City of West Palm Beach

Project Description:

Funding will be utilized to cover the cost to restore and rehabilitate the historic train station which services millions of trips annually. The Seaboard Station needs major repair items which include but are not limited to repairing interior and exterior damage, repairing roof damage and implementing mitigation measures such as the installation of historically compatible shutters, repointing and waterproofing the exterior building.

 

Project Name: Elderly Housing Stabilization

Requested Amount: $5,000,000

Intended Recipient: City of Riviera Beach

Project Description:

Preserve up to 200 existing housing units for homeownership through replacement or rehabilitation with extended affordability restrictions permanent, long-term effect: Increasing affordability restrictions for a minimum of 30- years through monitoring and management by local housing and supportive service providers; insuring that affordable housing stock is not lost to outside investors but remains as a wealth bootstrap for future family members through sound estate planning. This program would harden a large number of existing homes, insuring energy efficiency, thereby reducing the cost burden on low wealth, elderly residents, and lowering the cost to government to provide decent, safe housing for the most vulnerable population.

 

Project Name: SE 15th Avenue Bridge Resiliency & Replacement Project

Requested Amount: $2,000,000

Project Description:

The project will replace an aging bridge that no longer meets the needs of the community or the region’s transportation system, with a new structure designed to withstand future climate risks, improve multimodal connectivity, and restore reliable access for commercial, emergency, and school-related travel.

 

Project Name: City of Belle Glade NW 5th Street Bridge Safety Improvements

Requested Amount: $750,000

Intended Recipient: City of Belle Glade

Project Description:

This project benefits the public and is a good use of taxpayer dollars because it addresses Life, Health and Safety of citizens, students and all users of this well-travelled bridge where repairs are critical. Lake Shore Middle School is in front of this bridge off West Lake Road. This bridge is used not only by pedestrians/students for commuting to and from Lake Shore Middle School but also by the parents, grandparents, etc. It is a priority because of its condition as outlined in the inspection reports. A FDOT inspection and a bridge conditions analysis report identified inefficiencies of the bridge’s structure and substructure where the load restrictions were downgraded due to the unsafe, degraded condition of this essential structure that spans over the Hillsboro L14 canal. These improvements will rectify deficiencies noted and enhance the bridge's structural integrity to fulfill FDOT specifications.

 

Project Name: Senior and Veteran Housing Stabilization

Requested Amount: $2,500,000

Intended Recipient: City of Lauderhill

Project Description:

The proposed Housing Stabilization Program aims to assist vulnerable seniors and veterans in Lauderhill, Florida, by providing access to safe, affordable, and stable housing. This initiative is a valuable investment of taxpayer funds because it addresses critical housing insecurity among two high-need populations — seniors and veterans — many of whom live on fixed incomes and face economic or health-related challenges. As of the most recent data, Lauderhill has approximately 2,135 veterans — about 3.8% of the adult civilian population — and over 11,000 residents aged 65 and older (15.3% of the population). Many of these individuals struggle with fixed or limited incomes, rising housing costs, and age-related health issues.
