CONGRESSWOMAN CHERFILUS-MCCORMICK STATEMENT ON HOUSE DEMOCRATS NEW LEADERSHIP

WASHINGTON, DC – Today will forever be etched into the pages of U.S. history. I want to extend heartfelt congratulations and a warm welcome to our new leaders, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Rep. Katherine Clark, and Rep. Pete Aguilar.

It has been a monumental day for our Caucus and our country. As we transition to the next generation of leadership, House Democrats remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering For the People. 

This historic shift is another step forward in pursuing a more perfect union. I beamed with pride as my colleagues and I unanimously voted for this generational change in leadership. Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Hoyer, and Majority Whip Clyburn have laid an excellent foundation for many generations to build on.

Working on critical solutions alongside Rep. Jeffries in the House and with the Congressional Black Caucus during the 117th Congress has been an honor. I look forward to continuing under his leadership as he takes the helm of our party as Democratic Leader for the 118th Congress.
